AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

 

C.S.H.B. 1334 amends current law relating to the effect of a delay by the State Board for Educator Certification in renewing an educator's certification.

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.

 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

 

SECTION 1.  Amends Section 21.0031, Education Code, by adding Subsection (f), as follows:

 

(f) Provides that for purposes of this section, a certificate or permit is not considered to have expired if:

 

(1) the employee has completed the requirements for renewal of the certificate or permit; and

 

(2) the employee submitted the request for renewal prior to the expiration date; and

 

(3) the date the certificate or permit would have expired is before the date the State Board for Educator Certification takes action to approve the renewal of the certificate or permit.

 

SECTION 2.  Effective date: upon passage or September 1, 2011.
