H.B. 1346

Committee Report (Unamended)

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

The term game management officer as used in provisions of law was replaced with the term  game warden decades ago; however, the earlier term is still found in some provisions of the Parks and Wildlife Code.  H.B. 1346 replaces the obsolete term game management officer with game warden in those provisions to make the code uniform.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.

ANALYSIS

H.B. 1346 amends the Parks and Wildlife Code to replace references to a game management officer with references to a game warden in provisions relating to special hunting and fishing licenses and permits, oyster licenses and public and private oyster beds, and restrictions on the use of certain firearms at Caddo Lake in Harrison County and Murvaul Lake in Panola County. The bill makes nonsubstantive changes.

EFFECTIVE DATE

On passage, or, if the bill does not receive the necessary vote, September 1, 2011.
