Licensing & Administrative Procedures

Committee Report (Unamended)

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

There is some concern relating to the lack of continuing education requirements for the renewal of an electrical sign apprentice license in Texas. Some people assert that the absence of such requirements has led to a lack of knowledge of current safety guidelines and regulations among electrical sign apprentices. H.B. 1625 seeks to address this concern by making provisions of law relating to continuing education requirements for the renewal of an electrical apprentice license applicable to the renewal of an electrical sign apprentice license.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.

ANALYSIS

The bill makes its provisions applicable to the renewal of an electrical sign apprentice license that expires on or after September 1, 2012.
