H.B. 3724

Public Health

Committee Report (Unamended)

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

Though many people in the United States suffer from chronic kidney disease, many are not diagnosed until they have lost much of their kidney function. Often, the disease worsens slowly and, in the early stages, there may be no symptoms. In some cases it can progress so slowly that symptoms do not occur until kidney function is severely impaired. H.B. 3724 seeks to increase prevention, early screening, diagnosis, and management of the disease by amending provisions of law relating to the Chronic Kidney Disease Task Force.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.

ANALYSIS

H.B. 3724 sets out provisions relating to the date on which the Chronic Kidney Disease Task Force is abolished and on which related provisions of law expire. The bill sets out provisions relating to the duties of the task force and the deadline by which the task force is required to submit a legislative report regarding its recommendations and findings.
