AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

 

H.B. 3837 amends current law relating to the designation of a portion of U.S. Highway 183 as the Cpl. Jason K. LaFleur Memorial Highway.

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.

 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

 

SECTION 1.  Amends Subchapter B,  Chapter 225, Transportation Code, by adding Section 225.084, as follows:

 

Sec.  255.084.  CPL. JASON K. LAFLEUR MEMORIAL HIGHWAY.  (a) Desginates the portion of U.S. Highway 183 from State Highway 71 to the southern municipal boundary of Lockhart as the Cpl. Jason K. LaFleur Memorial Highway.

 

(b) Requires the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), subject to Subsection 225.021(c) (relating to providing that TxDOT is not required to design, construct, or erect a marker under this subchapter unless a grant or donation of funds is provided), to:

 

(1) design and construct markers indicating the highway number, the designation as the Cpl. Jason K. LaFleur Memorial Highway, and other appropriate information; and

 

(2) erect a marker at each end of the highway and at appropriate intermediate sites along the highway.

 

(c) Provides that in this section a reference to the municipal boundary of Lockhart means that boundary as it exists on September 1, 2011.

 

SECTION 2.  Effective date: upon passage or September 1, 2011.
