A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the inclusion of the total cost of residential retail |
|
|
electricity in advertisements and contracts. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 39.101, Utilities Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (i) to read as follows: |
|
|
(i) A retail electric provider, power generation company, |
|
|
aggregator, or other entity that provides residential retail |
|
|
electric service shall provide in its advertisements and contracts |
|
|
the total cost of its residential retail service, including |
|
|
transmission and service provider distribution charges, pole |
|
|
charges, pass-through charges, and any other charges that may be |
|
|
charged on a customer's bill in addition to the cost per kilowatt |
|
|
hour. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
