A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the state's or a state governmental entity's provision |
|
|
of support for the performance of an abortion or abortion-related |
|
|
services. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 171, Health and Safety |
|
|
Code, is amended by adding Section 171.006 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 171.006. PROHIBITED USE OF STATE OR GOVERNMENTAL |
|
|
ENTITY RESOURCES. This state or a governmental entity in this state |
|
|
may not provide support to a person or facility that performs |
|
|
abortions or provides abortion-related services. Support |
|
|
includes: |
|
|
(1) directly or indirectly using state or local tax |
|
|
revenue to finance the performance of an abortion or a service |
|
|
related to an abortion; and |
|
|
(2) providing preferential access to assets that are |
|
|
owned or controlled by this state or a governmental entity in this |
|
|
state through a lease, contract, or other agreement. |

SECTIONਂ. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
