A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to providing Internet access in certain local public |
|
|
libraries. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 441.127, Government Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: |
|
|
(d) Accreditation standards adopted by the commission under |
|
|
Subsection (a) shall provide that a public library with a service |
|
|
area of over 50,000 residents that receives state or federal |
|
|
funding to provide high-speed Internet access shall provide |
|
|
computers with high-speed Internet access for public use. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
