A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to the authority of certain counties to provide health |
|
care services. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 122, Health and Safety Code, is amended |
|
by adding Section 122.0075 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 122.0075. PROVISION OF HEALTH CARE SERVICES BY CERTAIN |
|
COUNTIES. (a) As the county determines necessary to protect the |
|
public health, safety, and welfare, a county located on the |
|
Texas-Mexico border may provide health care services to a person in |
|
the county regardless of the person's income. The county may |
|
provide funding for the health care services from the county |
|
treasury. |
|
(b) A county may establish the standards and the |
|
application, documentation, and verification procedures for |
|
determining a person's eligibility to receive health care services |
|
under this section. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
