A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the authority of the State Board of Dental Examiners to |
renew certain expired licenses. |
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
SECTION 1. Section 257.002(d-2), Occupations Code, is |
amended to read as follows: |
(d-2) The board may renew the license of a person whose |
license has been expired for one year or more without requiring the |
person to comply with the requirements and procedures for an |
original license if: |
(1) the person places the person's renewed license on |
retired status and confines the person's practice solely to |
voluntary charity care under Section 256.102(f); or |
(2) on written request by the person whose license has |
expired, the board determines that extenuating circumstances and |
good cause existed for the person's failure to timely renew the |
license. |
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies to the |
renewal of a license that expires on or after the effective date of |
this Act. A license that expires before the effective date of this |
Act is governed by the law in effect on the date the license |
expired, and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose. |
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
