A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to voting eligibility requirements for members of a |
|
|
metropolitan planning organization policy board. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 472, Transportation Code, |
|
|
is amended by adding Section 472.035 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 472.035. POLICY BOARD MEMBER VOTING ELIGIBILITY IN |
|
|
CERTAIN COUNTIES. To be eligible to be a voting member of a |
|
|
metropolitan planning organization policy board that serves a |
|
|
county with a population of more than 1.7 million and in which more |
|
|
than 75 percent of the population resides in a single municipality, |
|
|
a member must be an elected official or a member of the board of a |
|
|
metropolitan rapid transit authority under Chapter 451. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
