A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the status of certain training programs for peace |
|
|
officers, reserve law enforcement officers, county jailers, and |
|
|
recruits. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 1701.254, Occupations Code, is amended |
|
|
by adding Subsection (e) to read as follows: |
|
|
(e) The commission may not adopt rules under Subsection (d) |
|
|
that place a training provider on at-risk probationary status based |
|
|
solely on the scores of the provider's students on licensing |
|
|
examinations if at least 80 percent of the provider's students |
|
|
pass, by the student's third attempt, the examination required for |
|
|
the type of license sought. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Not later than January 1, 2012, the Commission on |
|
|
Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education shall adopt rules |
|
|
necessary to implement the change in law made by this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
