A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to requiring the use of display timers with certain |
|
|
traffic-control signals. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 707.003, Transportation Code, is amended |
|
|
by adding Subsection (i) to read as follows: |
|
|
(i) A local authority shall install a timer at each |
|
|
intersection at which a photographic traffic signal enforcement |
|
|
system is in active use that displays the number of seconds that |
|
|
remain before the traffic-control signal changes. The timer must |
|
|
be easily readable to any operator approaching the intersection |
|
|
with illuminated numbers not less than 12 inches high. |
|
|
SECTION 2. A municipality or a local authority, as defined |
|
|
by Section 541.002, Transportation Code, shall ensure that a |
|
|
photographic traffic signal enforcement system that was installed |
|
|
by the municipality or local authority before the effective date of |
|
|
this Act complies with this Act not later than September 1, 2012. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
