A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
 
  relating to an exemption for active duty personnel and certain
  veterans from the requirement to complete the live firing portion
  of a hunter education program.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 62.014, Parks and Wildlife Code, is
  amended by adding Subsection (n) to read as follows:
         (n)  The following persons are exempt from any requirement to
  complete the live firing portion of a hunter education course under
  this section:
               (1)  an honorably discharged veteran of the United
  States armed forces; or
               (2)  a person who is on active duty as a member of the
  United States military forces, the Texas Army National Guard, the
  Texas Air National Guard, or the Texas State Guard.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
  a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
  provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
  Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
  Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
