A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a waiver of concealed handgun license fees for certain |
|
|
veterans of the military. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 411.1951(b), Government Code, is amended |
|
|
to read as follows: |
|
|
(b) Notwithstanding any other provision of this subchapter, |
|
|
the department shall waive any fee required for the issuance of an |
|
|
original, duplicate, modified, or renewed license under this |
|
|
subchapter if the applicant for the license is: |
|
|
(1) a member of the United States armed forces, |
|
|
including a member of the reserves, national guard, or state guard; |
|
|
or |
|
|
(2) a veteran, as defined by Subsection (a) [who,
|
|
|
within 365 days preceding the date of the application, was
|
|
|
honorably discharged from the branch of service in which the person
|
|
|
served]. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 411.1951(c), Government Code, is |
|
|
repealed. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
