A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to payment of expenses for certain elections. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 1.014(b), Election Code, is amended to |
|
|
read as follows: |
|
|
(b) For [Each county in the territory covered by] an |
|
|
election ordered by the governor: |
|
|
(1) each county in the territory covered by the |
|
|
election shall pay the expenses incurred in that particular county |
|
|
in the conduct of the election only if the election includes the |
|
|
election of the officers of the county government or a measure |
|
|
applicable to the county; or |
|
|
(2) the expenses incurred in the conduct of the |
|
|
election shall be paid by legislative appropriation administered by |
|
|
the secretary of state. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
