A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the applicability of architectural barrier standards. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 469.003(c), Government Code, is amended |
|
|
to read as follows: |
|
|
(c) The standards adopted under this chapter do not |
|
|
apply to religious organizations or entities controlled by |
|
|
religious organizations, including places of worship, as |
|
|
referenced in Section 307, Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 |
|
|
(42 U.S.C. Section 12187) [a place used primarily for religious
|
|
|
rituals within a building or facility of a religious organization]. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
