A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to funding for inspection of meat and poultry. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 433, Health and Safety |
|
|
Code, is amended by adding Section 433.036 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 433.036. COOPERATIVE INSPECTION AGREEMENTS. Funds |
|
|
paid to the state from the United States Department of Agriculture |
|
|
through a cooperative inspection agreement between this state and |
|
|
the federal government under the Federal Meat Inspection Act (21 |
|
|
U.S.C. Section 601 et seq.) or the Poultry Products Inspection Act |
|
|
(21 U.S.C. Section 451 et seq.) may be appropriated only to, and |
|
|
must be used by, the Department of State Health Services to fund the |
|
|
program operated under the cooperative inspection agreement. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
