A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the maintenance of a list of voters whose registrations |
|
|
have been recently canceled. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 18, Election Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 18.014 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 18.014. CANCELLATION LIST. (a) For each election that |
|
|
uses county election precincts, the registrar shall prepare a |
|
|
registration cancellation list for each precinct. |
|
|
(b) The cancellation list shall contain the name, residence |
|
|
address, date of birth, voter registration number, date of |
|
|
registration cancellation, and reason for registration |
|
|
cancellation for each voter: |
|
|
(1) whose name appeared on the list of registered |
|
|
voters in the precinct at any time during the four years immediately |
|
|
preceding the date of the election; and |
|
|
(2) whose voter registration is canceled as of the |
|
|
date of the election. |
|
|
(c) The secretary of state may adopt rules as necessary to |
|
|
implement this section. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
