A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the use of certain voting equipment in an election that |
|
|
is not held jointly with a county election. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 61.013, Election Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(a-1) This subsection applies to an election of a political |
|
|
subdivision other than a county. Notwithstanding Subsection (a), |
|
|
for an election of a political subdivision with a population of less |
|
|
than 5,000, other than an election that is held jointly with a |
|
|
county election, the political subdivision is not required to meet |
|
|
the requirements of Section 61.012(a)(1)(C). |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
