A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to notification to the attorney general regarding |
|
|
allegations of criminal conduct in connection with an election. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 273.001, Election Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (f) to read as follows: |
|
|
(f) If a county or district attorney does not initiate |
|
|
prosecution in response to an affidavit received under Subsection |
|
|
(a) or as described by Subsection (c) on or before the 60th day |
|
|
after the date the county or district attorney receives the |
|
|
affidavit, the county or district attorney shall notify the |
|
|
attorney general in writing of the allegations. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
