A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the appointment of bailiffs in certain Dallas County |
|
|
courts. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 53.001, Government Code, is amended to |
|
|
read as follows: |
|
|
(k) The judges of the 191st, 193rd, 254th, 255th, 256th, |
|
|
298th, 301st, 302nd, 304th, 330th, 14th, 44th, 68th, 95th, 101st, |
|
|
116th, 134th, 160th and 162nd District Courts and the county courts |
|
|
at law in Dallas County may each appoint one or more bailiffs that |
|
|
the judges believe are necessary for the efficient administration |
|
|
of the judge's court. |
|
|
SECTION 2. To be eligible to be appointed bailiff for the |
|
|
191st, 193rd, 254th, 255th, 256th, 298th, 301st, 302nd, 304th, |
|
|
330th, 14th, 44th, 68th, 95th, 101st, 116th, 134th, 160th and 162nd |
|
|
District Courts and the county courts at law in Dallas County, or |
|
|
under Section 53.001, a person must be at least 21 years old and |
|
|
hold a peace officer license under Chapter 415 from the Commission |
|
|
on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect on September 1, 2011. |
