A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to Internet posting by the Legislative Budget Board of |
|
|
certain budget documents. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 322, Government Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Section 322.0081 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 322.0081. BUDGET DOCUMENTS ONLINE. (a) The board |
|
|
shall post on the board's Internet website all documents prepared |
|
|
by the board that are provided to a committee, subcommittee, or |
|
|
conference committee of either house of the legislature in |
|
|
connection with an appropriations bill. |
|
|
(b) The board shall post a document to which this section |
|
|
applies as soon as practicable after the document is provided to a |
|
|
committee, subcommittee, or conference committee. |
|
|
(c) The document must be downloadable and provide data in an |
|
|
open standard format that allows the public to search, extract, |
|
|
organize, and analyze the information in the document. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 322.0081, Government Code, as added by |
|
|
this Act, applies only to documents provided to a committee, |
|
|
subcommittee, or conference committee on or after October 1, 2011. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
