A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to a review of the home- and community-based services
  workforce.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter B, Chapter 531, Government Code, is
  amended by adding Section 531.0251 to read as follows:
         Sec. 531.0251.  REVIEW OF HOME- AND COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICES
  WORKFORCE; REPORT. (a) The commission shall conduct a review of
  the home- and community-based services workforce in this state.
  The review must include collecting and analyzing the following
  information:
               (1)  the number of home- and community-based service
  providers in this state;
               (2)  demographic characteristics regarding the home-
  and community-based services workforce, including an analysis of
  the workforce based on geography, age, and gender;
               (3)  the average number of hours worked per week for a
  home- and community-based service provider;
               (4)  the number of home- and community-based service
  providers receiving public assistance, including Temporary
  Assistance for Needy Families, Supplemental Security Income, or
  Medicaid benefits; and
               (5)  other similar information as determined by the
  commission.
         (b)  Not later than September 1, 2013, the commission shall
  report the results of the review conducted under Subsection (a) to
  the interagency task force established under Section 531.02441.
         (c)  This section expires September 1, 2013.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
