A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a review of the home- and community-based services |
|
|
workforce. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 531, Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 531.0251 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 531.0251. REVIEW OF HOME- AND COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICES |
|
|
WORKFORCE; REPORT. (a) The commission shall conduct a review of |
|
|
the home- and community-based services workforce in this state. |
|
|
The review must include collecting and analyzing the following |
|
|
information: |
|
|
(1) the number of home- and community-based service |
|
|
providers in this state; |
|
|
(2) demographic characteristics regarding the home- |
|
|
and community-based services workforce, including an analysis of |
|
|
the workforce based on geography, age, and gender; |
|
|
(3) the average number of hours worked per week for a |
|
|
home- and community-based service provider; |
|
|
(4) the number of home- and community-based service |
|
|
providers receiving public assistance, including Temporary |
|
|
Assistance for Needy Families, Supplemental Security Income, or |
|
|
Medicaid benefits; and |
|
|
(5) other similar information as determined by the |
|
|
commission. |
|
|
(b) Not later than September 1, 2013, the commission shall |
|
|
report the results of the review conducted under Subsection (a) to |
|
|
the interagency task force established under Section 531.02441. |
|
|
(c) This section expires September 1, 2013. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
