A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the operation of a jail commissary in certain counties. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 351.04155(a), Local Government Code, is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(a) This section applies only to: |
|
|
(1) a county that has a population of 3.3 million or |
|
|
more; or |
|
|
(2) a county that: |
|
|
(A) [(1)] has a population of one million or |
|
|
more; |
|
|
(B) [(2)] has two municipalities with a |
|
|
population of 200,000 or more; and |
|
|
(C) [(3)] is adjacent to a county with a |
|
|
population of one million or more. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
