A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to cost-saving and efficiency in government. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 29, Education Code, is amended by adding |
|
|
a new section to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 29.206. STUDY. The comptroller shall evaluate the |
|
|
efficiency and cost savings associated with this subchapter. The |
|
|
comptroller may propose amendments to this subchapter, including |
|
|
the recommendation to repeal this subchapter, to the Legislative |
|
|
Budget Board, the Speaker of the House, and the Lieutenant Governor |
|
|
no later than December 31, 2012. |
|
|
(b) This section expires September 1, 2013. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
