CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, Aimee Doane was recognized with a 2011 Woman of
  Excellence award from the YWCA of Lubbock for her achievements in
  the field of business; and
         WHEREAS, An annual project that has honored 185 individuals
  since 1989, the YWCA Women of Excellence awards are given to women
  leaders whose contributions to business, industry, and area
  associations are crucial to the success of those organizations and
  the Lubbock community; the awards program is in keeping with the
  YWCA's goal to empower women and their families and to establish
  strong role models for the next generation of South Plains women;
  and
         WHEREAS, A leader in the cable telecommunications industry,
  Ms. Doane is vice president of operations for Suddenlink
  Communications' West Region; in addition to overseeing product
  deployment and launches in 19 states, she has been pivotal in
  planning and executing a $350 million investment plan to expand
  service in her region, and she has also assisted other regions with
  its implementation; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Doane graduated from Texas Tech University and
  began her career as a business development manager with Birch
  Telecom; in 2004, she joined Cox Communications, and she played an
  integral role in transitioning the company's West Texas region to
  Suddenlink Communications in 2007; and
         WHEREAS, Respected by her peers, Ms. Doane was named
  president of the board of Women in Cable
  Telecommunications--Greater Texas Chapter, for which she developed
  a mentor program to assist members across the state in their
  personal and professional development; she also serves on the
  organization's national board of directors, and she has
  participated in its Rising Leaders Program and the Betsy Magness
  Leadership Institute; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Doane gives back in behalf of her fellow
  citizens through her work with a number of local groups, including
  the Ronald McDonald House and Women's Protective Services; a
  devoted mother to her sons, Tyler and Trevor, she is active in the
  PTA and an avid supporter of their extracurricular activities; and
         WHEREAS, Inspiring others with her notable accomplishments,
  Aimee Doane stands at the forefront of those individuals who are
  making a positive difference in their communities, and she is
  indeed deserving of this prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 82nd Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby congratulate Aimee Doane on her selection as a 2011 YWCA of
  Lubbock Woman of Excellence and extend to her sincere best wishes
  for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Doane as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives and Senate.
