HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, Yvonne Racz Key was recognized with a 2011 Woman of |
|
Excellence award from the YWCA of Lubbock for her achievements in |
|
the field of arts and culture; and |
|
WHEREAS, An annual project that has honored 185 individuals |
|
since 1989, the YWCA Women of Excellence awards are given to women |
|
leaders whose contributions to business, industry, and area |
|
associations are crucial to the success of those organizations and |
|
the Lubbock community; the awards program is in keeping with the |
|
YWCA's goal to empower women and their families and to establish |
|
strong role models for the next generation of South Plains women; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, A distinguished dancer, choreographer, and teacher, |
|
Ms. Racz Key has served since 1997 as the artistic director of |
|
Ballet Lubbock, a full-time preprofessional ballet school and |
|
performing company; during her tenure, the school's enrollment has |
|
grown from approximately 50 students to more than 200, and its |
|
dancers now train in a state-of-the-art studio; many of her |
|
students have been accepted into the nation's top-ranked summer |
|
ballet intensives, including those conducted by the School of |
|
American Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, and Kirov Academy; and |
|
WHEREAS, In addition to her work with Ballet Lubbock, Ms. |
|
Racz Key has also choreographed many productions for Texas Tech |
|
University and Lubbock Moonlight Musicals; a tireless promoter of |
|
the arts, she has contributed her talents to a number of community |
|
events, among them the annual Lubbock Arts Festival and the Lubbock |
|
Centennial Celebration, as well as special performances of the |
|
Lubbock Symphony Orchestra; she is a recipient of the Dynamic |
|
Force/Ace Award from the Lubbock Arts Alliance, and she has been |
|
recognized by the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal as one of the city's |
|
100 most influential persons; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Racz Key received extensive dance training with |
|
the Syracuse Ballet Theater, the Lubbock Civic Ballet, and the Utah |
|
Ballet Company; after earning a bachelor's degree in humanities |
|
from the University of Utah, she went on to perform professionally |
|
with the Urban Ballet Theater, Desrosiers Dance Theatre, Ballet |
|
Hispanico of New York, and Cirque Du Soleil; in addition, she has |
|
taught master courses in dance at Texas Tech University, the New |
|
York Institute for Dance Education, the Urban Ballet Theater, and |
|
the Kinkaid School in Houston; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Racz Key and her husband, Tim, are the proud |
|
parents of three children, Lukacs, Jet, and Antonia; and |
|
WHEREAS, Inspiring others with her notable accomplishments, |
|
Yvonne Racz Key stands at the forefront of those individuals who are |
|
making a positive difference in their communities, and she is |
|
indeed deserving of this prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the 82nd Legislature of the State of Texas |
|
hereby congratulate Yvonne Racz Key on her selection as a 2011 YWCA |
|
of Lubbock Woman of Excellence and extend to her sincere best wishes |
|
for continued success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Racz Key as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives and Senate. |
