CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, James Alford Davis was named the 2011 Citizen of the |
|
Year by the Menard County Chamber of Commerce; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Menard on November 14, 1929, to Alford and |
|
Victoria Davis, James A. Davis lived on the Fritz Wilhelm ranch |
|
until he was in the fourth grade, when his family moved into the |
|
city of Menard; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Davis married the former Nancy Helen Hall in |
|
1956, and together they have been blessed with five children, |
|
Keith, Charles, John, Victoria, and Christopher; and |
|
WHEREAS, After earning his law degree from the Bates School |
|
of Law at the University of Houston, Mr. Davis was admitted to the |
|
Texas Bar in 1961; he established a successful career with Shell |
|
Pipeline, retiring in 1991 after 35 years of service; and |
|
WHEREAS, Since his retirement, Mr. Davis has dedicated |
|
himself to raising goats, sheep, cows, and grandkids at the Dry |
|
Creek Ranch in Menard, where he and his wife have made their home |
|
for the past two decades; and |
|
WHEREAS, James A. Davis has distinguished himself through his |
|
dedication to his family, profession, and community, and his many |
|
achievements are greatly appreciated by his fellow county |
|
residents; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the 82nd Legislature of the State of Texas |
|
hereby congratulate James Alford Davis on being named the 2011 |
|
Citizen of the Year by the Menard County Chamber of Commerce and |
|
extend to him sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be |
|
it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Davis as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives and Senate. |
