A JOINT RESOLUTION
|
|
|
proposing a constitutional amendment to prohibit a hospital |
|
|
district from using tax revenue to finance the performance of an |
|
|
abortion. |
|
|
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 9A, Article IX, Texas Constitution, is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 9A. (a) The legislature by law may determine the |
|
|
health care services a hospital district is required to provide, |
|
|
the requirements a resident must meet to qualify for services, and |
|
|
any other relevant provisions necessary to regulate the provision |
|
|
of health care to residents. |
|
|
(b) A hospital district may not use tax revenue of the |
|
|
district to finance the performance of an abortion. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be |
|
|
submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 8, 2011. |
|
|
The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the |
|
|
proposition: "The constitutional amendment to prohibit a hospital |
|
|
district from using tax revenue to finance the performance of an |
|
|
abortion." |
