R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Vernon Chamber of Commerce celebrated a
  significant milestone in its rich history with its centennial in
  2010; and
         WHEREAS, Since its inception in 1910, this noteworthy
  organization has been guided by the belief that its accomplishments
  in the local business community result from the collective
  resources of its diverse membership; a nonprofit, volunteer-based
  group, the chamber advocates for free enterprise and strives to be a
  positive influence for the continued growth of the economy and for
  the development of new industries and businesses, and it helps
  bring lasting benefits to all types of businesses; and
         WHEREAS, The chamber is governed by a board of directors
  elected from among its members and is organized into various
  committees that oversee internal operations, as well as business,
  community, and member development; in addition, it hosts various
  activities and supports a leadership development program, and it
  serves as an information resource center for visitors, prospective
  residents, and industry representatives; the office of the Vernon
  Chamber of Commerce is designed to be a "front door" to the
  community, encouraging new opportunities that help local
  businesses thrive; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of a century, the Vernon Chamber of
  Commerce has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to enhancing
  prosperity in North Central Texas, and its members may indeed
  reflect with great pride on their organization's many contributions
  to the community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Vernon
  Chamber of Commerce and extend to all those affiliated with the
  organization sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the chamber as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
