R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories
  of Elaine Hart Dortch of Longview, who passed away on October 2,
  2010, at the age of 58; and
         WHEREAS, Elaine Hart was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico, on
  August 29, 1952; she graduated from East Texas State University and
  embarked on a career as an educator, teaching foreign languages at
  schools throughout East Texas as well as in the Llano Independent
  School District; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to her classroom teaching
  responsibilities, Ms. Dortch was a well-known debate coach, and she
  led many teams to state championships; and
         WHEREAS, After her son, Micah, entered college, she returned
  to school herself and received her master's degree from The
  University of Texas at Tyler; she then became a diagnostician for
  the Edgewood Independent School District, and she held the position
  until her retirement in August 2010; and
         WHEREAS, A devoted mother, Ms. Dortch also enjoyed
  gardening, and she found great comfort and companionship with her
  beloved dogs Prissy, Sugar, and Lilly; and
         WHEREAS, Elaine Hart Dortch lived a caring and purposeful
  life that was rich in the intangibles that matter most, and she will
  forever be remembered with much affection by all who hold her close
  to their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Elaine Hart Dortch and
  extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her son,
  Micah Dortch, and his wife, Joy; to her sister, Janice Coke, and her
  husband, Crawford; to her nephew, Casey Coke, and his wife, Kelly;
  to her great-nephew, Cameron; and to her other relatives and
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Elaine Hart
  Dortch.
