R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The family and friends of U.S. Army Private First
  Class Benjamen Glen Chisholm suffered an immeasurable loss with the
  death of this valiant soldier on August 17, 2010, at the age of 24;
  and
         WHEREAS, Private Chisholm was assigned to the 1st Battalion,
  327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne
  Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky; he was mortally wounded in
  Kunar Province while serving his country on his first tour of duty
  in Afghanistan; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Silver Spring, Maryland, on October 3, 1985,
  Ben Chisholm spent his early years in Colorado and Utah before his
  family moved to the Fort Worth area in 1998; a graduate of Northwest
  High School in Justin and a participant in Junior ROTC and the Young
  Marines, he enlisted in the army in August 2008; and
         WHEREAS, Private Chisholm was deployed to Afghanistan in May
  2010; among the awards and decorations posthumously conferred on
  him were the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, and the Good Conduct
  Medal; and
         WHEREAS, This brave Texan was known for his cheerful smile
  and infectious good humor; he was a frequent volunteer at the Rocky
  Top Therapy Center in Keller, which provides equine therapy for the
  disabled, and a Benjamen Chisholm Memorial Fund has been created
  there to benefit veterans and their families; and
         WHEREAS, Ben Chisholm married the love of his life, U.S. Army
  Specialist Amber Ferguson, on March 15, 2010; and
         WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt to our nation's
  servicemen and servicewomen, whose sacrifices are deserving of the
  deepest respect and gratitude; through his unwavering dedication to
  duty, Benjamen Chisholm embodied the highest ideals of the United
  States armed forces, and those who knew him will forever hold his
  memory close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Private First Class
  Benjamen Chisholm and extend sincere sympathy to his loved ones,
  including Amber Ferguson Chisholm, Linda Reynolds and Skip Doerr,
  Glenn and Lynn Chisholm, James David Breuel, Annie A. Reynolds,
  Fern Hiatt, Oscar and Davina Ferguson, Alyssa Breuel, Tammy Breuel,
  Megan Doerr, Tami Rose, Tiffany Merrill, Stacy Humphreys, Alexis
  Chisholm, Jay Breuel, Scott Doerr, and Tracy Humphreys; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of U.S. Army
  Private First Class Benjamen Glen Chisholm.
