R E S O L U T I O N
         
  WHEREAS, The citizens of Parker County bid farewell to a
 
  respected justice of the peace when Judge Jayne Williams Choate
 
  retired from service on December 31, 2010; and
         
         WHEREAS, Jayne Choate began working for Parker County in 1972
 
  as a justice of the peace clerk; she remained in that post for 23
 
  years before being elected justice of the peace for the term
 
  beginning in January 1995; and
         
         WHEREAS, Judge Choate was repeatedly reelected by the
 
  county's voters, spending a total of 15 years on the bench; over the
 
  course of her distinguished tenure, she was presented with the two
 
  highest honors given by the Justices of the Peace and Constables
 
  Association, receiving the Judge of the Year Award in 2001 and the
 
  T. A. Vines Award for outstanding leadership in 2010; she twice
 
  served as president of the North Texas JPCA and also held the title
 
  of third vice president; and
         
         WHEREAS, Along with her duties as an employee and elected
 
  official of the county, she has shared her time with such
 
  organizations as the local chapter of the American Red Cross, the
 
  Mayor's Task Force for Abused Children, Freedom House, the
 
  Weatherford Independent School District Advisory Board for the Pass
 
  Learning Center, and Parker County Republican Women; and
         
         WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Judge Choate has enjoyed the
 
  love and support of her husband, Bob, her children, Misti Glasscock
 
  and Lynda Cronin, and her four grandchildren, Jimmy, Brady, Sarah,
 
  and Bailey; and
         
         WHEREAS, The dedication Jayne Choate brought to her work has
 
  helped make Parker County an even better place to live and work, and
 
  her outstanding accomplishments are greatly appreciated by the
 
  residents that she has served so well; now, therefore, be it
         
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Honorable Jayne Williams
 
  Choate on her retirement as justice of the peace for Precinct 2 of
 
  Parker County and extend to her deep appreciation for her exemplary
 
  public service; and, be it further
         
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 
  prepared for Judge Choate as an expression of high regard by the
 
  Texas House of Representatives.
