R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The students, faculty, and staff of Stan C. Stanley |
|
|
|
|
|
Elementary School celebrated the dedication of this fine |
|
|
|
|
|
institution of learning on October 4, 2009; and |
|
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Part of the Katy Independent School District, the |
|
|
|
|
|
school was named in honor of successful entrepreneur and community |
|
|
|
|
|
leader Stan Stanley; a resident of Katy since 1977, he is the |
|
|
|
|
|
founder of Stanley Signature Products and a longtime supporter of |
|
|
|
|
|
Katy ISD; Mr. Stanley has volunteered his time to a variety of |
|
|
|
|
|
district initiatives, including Junior Achievement, Classroom |
|
|
|
|
|
Champions, and the Keep Encouraging Youth toward Success (KEYS) |
|
|
|
|
|
mentoring program; he has further distinguished himself as a member |
|
|
|
|
|
of the Partners in Education Advisory Board, and he was named a |
|
|
|
|
|
Texas Hero for Children in 2006 by the State Board of Education as |
|
|
|
|
|
well as the 2002 Citizen of the Year by the Katy Area Chamber of |
|
|
|
|
|
Commerce; moreover, he has had a positive influence on the lives of |
|
|
|
|
|
countless students over the course of his 50-year involvement with |
|
|
|
|
|
the Boy Scouts; and |
|
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Stanley Elementary opened its doors at the beginning |
|
|
|
|
|
of the 2009-2010 school year and is providing comprehensive |
|
|
|
|
|
instruction to more than 800 students enrolled in kindergarten |
|
|
|
|
|
through grade 5; included among the facility's many amenities are |
|
|
|
|
|
computers and teacher workstations in every classroom, document |
|
|
|
|
|
cameras in all first-grade through fifth-grade rooms, SMART Boards, |
|
|
|
|
|
mobile laptop carts, and mini SMART Boards on which students can |
|
|
|
|
|
create new ideas for lessons; and |
|
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of principal Kerri Finnesand, |
|
|
|
|
|
this notable school is providing area students with a strong |
|
|
|
|
|
educational foundation, and it is appropriate to take this |
|
|
|
|
|
opportunity to recognize it; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
|
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
|
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the dedication of Stan C. Stanley |
|
|
|
|
|
Elementary School and extend to its students, faculty, and staff |
|
|
|
|
|
sincere best wishes for success; and, be it further |
|
|
|
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
|
|
|
prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
|
|
|
House of Representatives. |
