R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The students, faculty, and staff of Stan C. Stanley
  Elementary School celebrated the dedication of this fine
  institution of learning on October 4, 2009; and
         WHEREAS, Part of the Katy Independent School District, the
  school was named in honor of successful entrepreneur and community
  leader Stan Stanley; a resident of Katy since 1977, he is the
  founder of Stanley Signature Products and a longtime supporter of
  Katy ISD; Mr. Stanley has volunteered his time to a variety of
  district initiatives, including Junior Achievement, Classroom
  Champions, and the Keep Encouraging Youth toward Success (KEYS)
  mentoring program; he has further distinguished himself as a member
  of the Partners in Education Advisory Board, and he was named a
  Texas Hero for Children in 2006 by the State Board of Education as
  well as the 2002 Citizen of the Year by the Katy Area Chamber of
  Commerce; moreover, he has had a positive influence on the lives of
  countless students over the course of his 50-year involvement with
  the Boy Scouts; and
         WHEREAS, Stanley Elementary opened its doors at the beginning
  of the 2009-2010 school year and is providing comprehensive
  instruction to more than 800 students enrolled in kindergarten
  through grade 5; included among the facility's many amenities are
  computers and teacher workstations in every classroom, document
  cameras in all first-grade through fifth-grade rooms, SMART Boards,
  mobile laptop carts, and mini SMART Boards on which students can
  create new ideas for lessons; and
         WHEREAS, Under the leadership of principal Kerri Finnesand,
  this notable school is providing area students with a strong
  educational foundation, and it is appropriate to take this
  opportunity to recognize it; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the dedication of Stan C. Stanley
  Elementary School and extend to its students, faculty, and staff
  sincere best wishes for success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
