R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Officer Leonard Allen Reed of the Cedar Park Police
  Department was killed in the line of duty on August 18, 2010, at the
  age of 41, and his untimely death was a tragic loss to his family, to
  his fellow peace officers, and to the citizens of Cedar Park; and
         WHEREAS, A Central Texas native, Leonard Reed was born in
  Austin to Leon and Janice Reed; as a young man, he demonstrated
  exceptional determination and commitment to achieving his goals,
  and his ability to overcome obstacles made him a role model to many;
  and
         WHEREAS, Officer Reed served his country with the U.S. Navy
  and joined the Cedar Park Police Department in 2006; he worked in
  the schools division as a resource officer at Vista Ridge High
  School during the 2007-2008 school year, and he had recently begun
  training to become a motorcycle patrol officer; known and admired
  by his colleagues for his outgoing, affable nature, he earned the
  title of Officer of the Year in 2008; and
         WHEREAS, Above all else, he was a loving husband to his wife
  of 16 years, Cynthia, and a dedicated father to his two sons,
  Domenic and DeMitri; and
         WHEREAS, Devotion to family and community formed the
  foundation on which this highly respected public servant built his
  life, and he will long be remembered for his commitment to helping
  others; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Leonard Allen Reed
  and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his
  wife, Cynthia Dianne Reed; to his sons, Domenic and DeMitri; to his
  father, Leon Reed, Sr., and stepmother, Alfreda Reed; to his
  brother, Leon Reed, Jr., and his wife, Donna; to his sister, Barbara
  Lynn Reed-Musson, and her husband, Val; to his stepsister, Lennette
  Williams, and her husband, Shon; and to his other relatives and many
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Leonard
  Allen Reed.
