H.R. No. 199
 
 
 
R E S O L U T I O N
         
  WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the shock and deep
 
  sorrow felt by the people of Texas and the entire nation at the news
 
  of the tragic events at Fort Hood on November 5, 2009; and
         
         WHEREAS, Among the 13 individuals whose lives were
 
  senselessly lost on that day was Michael Grant Cahill of Cameron;
 
  with an exemplary record of duty in support of this nation's
 
  soldiers, Mr. Cahill served for 23 years with the Army National
 
  Guard and dedicated his life to healing others as a physician
 
  assistant; and
         
         WHEREAS, After assisting rural health care programs and
 
  teaching as an adjunct professor at Baylor University, Mr. Cahill
 
  joined the staff at Fort Hood in 2002; he was passionate about his
 
  work, driving more than 100 miles round-trip each day to treat
 
  patients at the Soldier Readiness Center; and
         
         WHEREAS, Mr. Cahill was also a devoted family man who
 
  cherished his wife, Joleen, his three children, Keely, Kerry, and
 
  James, and his young grandson; an avid reader as well, he possessed
 
  a love of learning, and his breadth of knowledge was known and
 
  admired by many; and
         
         WHEREAS, Although time cannot assuage the heartbreak of a
 
  remarkable life cut short, neither can it diminish the brilliance
 
  of that life, and memories of Michael Cahill will forever shine
 
  brightly for all those fortunate enough to have known him; now,
 
  therefore, be it
         
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
 
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Michael Grant Cahill
 
  and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his
 
  wife, Joleen Cahill; to his children, Keely Vanacker, Kerry Cahill,
 
  and James Cahill; to his grandson; and to his other relatives and
 
  friends; and, be it further
         
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Michael
 
  Grant Cahill.
