R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the Vandegrift High School Sports |
|
|
|
Medicine Program are visiting the Capitol on January 31, 2011; and |
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Vandegrift's Sports Medicine Program has 15 |
|
|
|
students who study under the leadership of athletics coordinator |
|
|
|
Drew Sanders and two licensed athletic trainers and work with |
|
|
|
school teams in 12 different sports to learn about the athletic |
|
|
|
training profession; participating students are certified in CPR, |
|
|
|
AED, and first aid and are confident in using those skills as |
|
|
|
needed; and |
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the program are visiting the Capitol as |
|
|
|
part of Hit the Hill Day, sponsored by the Texas State Athletic |
|
|
|
Trainers' Association; the event provides an opportunity for |
|
|
|
students to speak with their elected representatives about issues |
|
|
|
affecting the athletic training industry; and |
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of principal Charlie Little, |
|
|
|
Vandegrift High School has earned an "Exemplary" rating from the |
|
|
|
Texas Education Agency, and the sports medicine program is one |
|
|
|
important example of the outstanding opportunities for learning |
|
|
|
that the school provides; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
|
Legislature hereby welcome the members of the Sports Medicine |
|
|
|
Program at Vandegrift High School to the Capitol and extend to them |
|
|
|
sincere best wishes for a memorable and educational visit; and, be |
|
|
|
it further |
|
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
|
prepared for the students as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
