R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The reigning Ms. Texas Senior America, Paula Lee,
  along with two outstanding women who formerly held the title, Mary
  Frances Hansen and Patricia Madden Housel, are visiting the State
  Capitol on February 8, 2011; and
         WHEREAS, The Ms. Texas Senior America pageant is a nonprofit
  program that champions healthy aging and wellness, with the
  ultimate goal of enriching and empowering the lives of all senior
  women; in this event, contestants have the opportunity to share
  their philosophy of life and to take part in interview and talent
  competitions, with the winner going on to represent the state at the
  national pageant; and
         WHEREAS, Paula Lee has been a hairstylist for 44 years; she
  takes great pride in her work and has served as the official stylist
  for the Ms. Senior America pageant in 2008 and 2009 and as a
  volunteer with other senior pageants; she is also a hair designer as
  well as a dancer for the Spectacular Senior Follies, and she has
  participated in competitive powerlifting; and
         WHEREAS, Mary Frances Hansen reigned as Ms. Texas Senior
  America in 1997 and today serves as the director of the pageant; she
  holds a nursing degree and has devoted more than 35,000 hours of her
  time as a volunteer at the Dallas chapter of the Alzheimer's
  Association and at a local nursing home, receiving numerous awards
  for her dedication; she has further shared her expertise on many
  advisory boards, including the Senior Affairs Commission for the
  City of Dallas, and she speaks professionally on the positive
  aspects of aging; and
         WHEREAS, Patricia Madden Housel held the title of Ms. Texas
  Senior America in 2006; a retired project management professional,
  she enjoyed a successful career at Bank of America and Electronic
  Data Systems; she is also a gifted dancer who has performed
  throughout Texas with the Dallas Tap Dazzlers as well as in the
  Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City and in the
  Spectacular Senior Follies; and
         WHEREAS, These three exceptional women serve as inspiring
  role models to younger generations, and it is a pleasure to
  recognize them at this time; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby welcome Ms. Texas Senior America 2010 Paula Lee
  and former Ms. Texas Senior America pageant winners Mary Frances
  Hansen and Patricia Madden Housel to the State Capitol and extend to
  them sincere best wishes for a memorable visit; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Lee, Ms. Hansen, and Ms. Housel as an expression of
  high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
