R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of the First Presbyterian Church of Clifton
  are celebrating the 150th anniversary of their church's founding in
  2011; and
         WHEREAS, The oldest continuously operated church in Bosque
  County, First Presbyterian was established on January 20, 1861, as
  North Bosque Presbyterian Church; the congregation originally met
  for services about two miles northeast of present-day Clifton; a
  permanent location was eventually found on the corner of Avenue G
  and 9th Street, and the name was changed to First Presbyterian
  Church of Clifton in 1906; and
         WHEREAS, The church marked its centennial in 1961 with the
  dedication of a new building, and in 2010, it doubled in size with
  the expansion of the sanctuary and the addition of a new fellowship
  hall and other facilities; and
         WHEREAS, Through the years, the congregation has benefited
  from the leadership of a number of notable pastors, including the
  Reverend Clint Schofield, who became pastor in 2004 and today
  ministers to the church's 120 members; and
         WHEREAS, The First Presbyterian Church of Clifton has long
  served as a source of inspiration and guidance to those who worship
  there, and its continued existence is a tribute to the unwavering
  commitment of its members and clergy, both past and present; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 150th anniversary of the First
  Presbyterian Church of Clifton and extend to the congregation
  sincere best wishes for many more years of shared prayer and
  fellowship.
