R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Henry Kuempel of Seguin is commemorating a
  remarkable milestone in his life with the observance of his 100th
  birthday on February 8, 2011; and
         WHEREAS, Born in 1911 in Pflugerville, Henry Kuempel was one
  of seven children in his family; he went on to become a successful
  businessman and owned the 7-Up Bottling Company in Austin; he also
  enjoyed a second career as owner of the city's semipro baseball
  team, the Pioneers, which played from 1947 to 1955; he has long been
  a respected member of the congregation at St. Martin's Evangelical
  Lutheran Church in Austin; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Kuempel married Ludora "Ludie" Langston in 1939,
  and the couple enjoyed many happy years together until her passing;
  they became the parents of two sons, Edmund and Robert, and the
  family has since grown to include two grandchildren, Margaret and
  John, and three great-grandchildren, Rose, Will, and Sam; through
  the years, Mr. Kuempel has instilled in his descendants the
  importance of serving others; his son Edmund Kuempel, who passed
  away in 2010, was a beloved state legislator who served 15
  consecutive terms in office, and Edmund's son John Kuempel has
  followed in his father's footsteps as the state representative for
  House District 44; and
         WHEREAS, A source of wisdom and inspiration to his family and
  friends, Henry Kuempel has witnessed a panorama of change during a
  historic century, and it is a pleasure to join his many admirers in
  recognizing his 100 years of life well lived; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Henry Kuempel on the joyous
  occasion of his 100th birthday and extend to him sincere best wishes
  for continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Kuempel as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
