R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Henry Kuempel of Seguin is commemorating a |
|
remarkable milestone in his life with the observance of his 100th |
|
birthday on February 8, 2011; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in 1911 in Pflugerville, Henry Kuempel was one |
|
of seven children in his family; he went on to become a successful |
|
businessman and owned the 7-Up Bottling Company in Austin; he also |
|
enjoyed a second career as owner of the city's semipro baseball |
|
team, the Pioneers, which played from 1947 to 1955; he has long been |
|
a respected member of the congregation at St. Martin's Evangelical |
|
Lutheran Church in Austin; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Kuempel married Ludora "Ludie" Langston in 1939, |
|
and the couple enjoyed many happy years together until her passing; |
|
they became the parents of two sons, Edmund and Robert, and the |
|
family has since grown to include two grandchildren, Margaret and |
|
John, and three great-grandchildren, Rose, Will, and Sam; through |
|
the years, Mr. Kuempel has instilled in his descendants the |
|
importance of serving others; his son Edmund Kuempel, who passed |
|
away in 2010, was a beloved state legislator who served 15 |
|
consecutive terms in office, and Edmund's son John Kuempel has |
|
followed in his father's footsteps as the state representative for |
|
House District 44; and |
|
WHEREAS, A source of wisdom and inspiration to his family and |
|
friends, Henry Kuempel has witnessed a panorama of change during a |
|
historic century, and it is a pleasure to join his many admirers in |
|
recognizing his 100 years of life well lived; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Henry Kuempel on the joyous |
|
occasion of his 100th birthday and extend to him sincere best wishes |
|
for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Kuempel as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
