R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dr. Carolyn G. Bukhair, a distinguished educator and
  administrator, has rendered exceptional service to the Richardson
  Independent School District; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of Lamar State University, Carolyn
  Bukhair went on to earn a master of education degree with honors
  from Southern Methodist University and a doctor of education degree
  in administrative leadership from the University of North Texas;
  and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Bukhair spent the major part of her career with
  the Richardson ISD, where she served for 30 years; after working as
  a teacher and reading consultant, she began her steady advancement
  in education administration when she became principal of
  Richardson's Yale Elementary in 1978; in 1996, she was named
  superintendent of the Richardson school district, a position she
  held until her retirement in 2004; Dr. Bukhair then coordinated the
  Superintendents' Academy for the Region 10 Education Service Center
  until being asked to assist the Richardson ISD as interim
  superintendent; while serving in that post from August 12, 2009, to
  March 21, 2010, she provided stability during a time of change; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan is the recipient of many
  well-deserved accolades, including selection in 1999 and 2003 as a
  finalist for the Texas Superintendent of the Year award given by the
  Texas Association of School Boards; she has also received the Texas
  PTA Service Award, the Hero for Children Award from the Dallas Child
  and Family Guidance Center, and a YMCA Special Award for Woman of
  the Year; in addition, the Texas Association of School Librarians
  has conferred on her the Distinguished Library Service Award for
  School Administrators, and Texas School Business magazine has
  chosen her as Educator of the Month; while she was still serving as
  superintendent, the Richardson ISD recognized her illustrious
  tenure by naming the Carolyn G. Bukhair Elementary School in her
  honor; and
         WHEREAS, The energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to
  excellence that Dr. Bukhair has brought to all her endeavors in the
  Richardson ISD have helped countless students to acquire a solid
  educational foundation, an asset that will contribute immeasurably
  to their future success and to the future progress of the Lone Star
  State; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Dr. Carolyn Bukhair for her outstanding
  service in behalf of the Richardson Independent School District and
  extend to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness and
  fulfillment; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Bukhair as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
