R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A loving family and a host of dear friends will |
|
forever cherish the memory of Jennifer Yuyin Hwang of Humble, who |
|
passed away on January 26, 2011, at the age of 57; and |
|
WHEREAS, Jennifer Hwang was born to Kuei and Jing-Jung Chang |
|
on April 30, 1953, in Taipei, Taiwan; after graduating from Taipei |
|
Chung-Sen Women's High School, she went on to earn a master of arts |
|
degree from the National Chengchi University; she subsequently |
|
traveled to the United States to pursue a master of business degree |
|
in finance while on scholarship at the University of Missouri; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Hwang enjoyed a rewarding marriage with her |
|
husband, Peter, and together they raised two sons, Richard and |
|
Duke; the couple moved in 1978 to the Houston area, where Mrs. Hwang |
|
became active in a number of community and civic organizations; she |
|
worked with the Audubon Park Homeowners Association and also |
|
volunteered her time with the Institute of Chinese Culture PTA and |
|
the Houston 80-20 Asian American Political Action Committee; in |
|
addition, she hosted a number of Fourth of July fund-raisers at her |
|
home to help the Chinese American Relief Effort raise money for |
|
children in need; and |
|
WHEREAS, Jennifer Hwang inspired those who knew her with the |
|
remarkable determination and optimism she brought to every |
|
endeavor, and those who were blessed to share in the richness of her |
|
life will forever hold her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor the memory of Jennifer Yuyin Hwang and |
|
extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her |
|
husband, Peter Hwang; to her sons, Richard and Duke Hwang; and to |
|
her other relatives and many friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jennifer |
|
Yuyin Hwang. |
