R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Odessa are |
|
|
gathering on February 13, 2011, to celebrate the installation of |
|
|
their new pastor, Ray D. Hicks; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Since assuming the pulpit in October 2010, Pastor |
|
|
Hicks has brought energy and enthusiasm to his new post and has |
|
|
helped to foster the growth of church membership; he moved to West |
|
|
Texas from Austin, where he served at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist |
|
|
Church; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Bethlehem Baptist Church was founded in 1959 by the |
|
|
Reverend R. S. Sutton; the congregation benefited from Reverend |
|
|
Sutton's able leadership for more than half a century, and the |
|
|
tradition of dedicated service that he established continues today |
|
|
under the direction of Pastor Hicks; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The installation of Pastor Hicks marks the beginning |
|
|
of a momentous new chapter in the life of this notable house of |
|
|
worship, and members of the congregation may indeed look forward to |
|
|
many years of worship and fellowship under his guidance; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Ray D. Hicks on his installation as |
|
|
pastor of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Odessa and extend to him |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success with his important work; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Pastor Hicks as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
