R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt at |
|
the death of U.S. Marine Lance Corporal Christopher Shawn Baltazar, |
|
Jr., of San Antonio, who lost his life while serving his country in |
|
Afghanistan on September 3, 2009, at the age of 19; and |
|
WHEREAS, A native of New York state, Christopher Baltazar was |
|
born on September 23, 1989; he relocated to the Alamo City in the |
|
sixth grade and attended Judson High School, where he was a valued |
|
member of the JROTC; following in the footsteps of his mother, he |
|
joined the military after earning his diploma; and |
|
WHEREAS, This esteemed young man delighted in making others |
|
smile; devoted to his Christian faith, he was an active member of |
|
Cornerstone Church; and |
|
WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and |
|
women whose love for their country inspires them to take up military |
|
service, yet the tragic death of this exemplary Marine is a sobering |
|
reminder of the cost of war; Lance Corporal Baltazar embodied the |
|
highest ideals of the U.S. armed forces, and those who knew and |
|
loved him will forever carry him close in their hearts; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Marine Lance |
|
Corporal Christopher Shawn Baltazar, Jr., and extend deepest |
|
sympathy to the members of his family: to his mother, U.S. Army |
|
Staff Sergeant Beatriz Alberts; to his brother and sister; to his |
|
stepbrothers; and to all those who mourn his passing; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of |
|
Christopher Shawn Baltazar, Jr. |
