R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, James Hudson retired from VIA Metropolitan Transit
  on May 1, 2009, concluding nearly two decades of outstanding
  service; and
         WHEREAS, A veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Hudson completed
  tours of duty in Vietnam, Korea, and Germany and was variously
  stationed at Fort Bragg, Fort Lee, Fort Dix, Fort Sam Houston, and
  Fort Hood; he retired in 1990 as a commissioned warrant officer CW2
  after 21 years of active duty; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Hudson subsequently joined VIA Metropolitan
  Transit in San Antonio as a part-time bus driver; he went on to
  serve as a recruitment and outreach officer in the human resources
  department, and in 1995 he was promoted to manager of the material
  distribution department, a position he continued to hold until his
  retirement; along the way, he earned his bachelor's degree in
  occupational education from Wayland Baptist University; his
  professional affiliations included the Conference of Minority
  Transportation Officials, which he served as president; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Hudson is a former member of the Willie H. Dixon
  Military Lodge, and a valued congregant of Second Baptist Church,
  where he is a deacon and participates in the choir; in all of his
  endeavors, he enjoys the love and support of his wife, the former
  Karen Goss, as well as their three children; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, James Hudson distinguished
  himself with his professionalism and commitment to excellence, and
  he may indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate James Hudson on his retirement from
  VIA Metropolitan Transit and extend to him sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Hudson as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
