R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The death of James Charles Fanner, Sr., of San |
|
Antonio on August 30, 2009, at the age of 89, deeply saddened the |
|
loved ones of this esteemed Texan; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born on October 12, 1919, James Fanner was the son of |
|
William and Cornilia Fanner; after completing high school, he |
|
enlisted in the United States Army, attaining the rank of corporal; |
|
following his honorable discharge, he attended St. Philip's |
|
College, where he earned an associate degree in tailoring; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Fanner established a notable civil service |
|
career as an inspector at Fort Sam Houston and Kelly Air Force Base; |
|
during his retirement, he spent several years as a bus driver for |
|
the local senior citizen program; and |
|
WHEREAS, A deeply religious man, he was a life member of Holy |
|
Redeemer Catholic Church, serving as an altar boy during his youth |
|
and participating in the Knights of Peter Claver, the male chorus, |
|
and the Holy Redeemer Gospel Choir; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Fanner took great pleasure in music, dancing, |
|
and cooking, and he was an avid outdoorsman who particularly |
|
enjoyed fishing; he also prided himself on maintaining a |
|
beautifully landscaped yard and held active memberships in numerous |
|
social clubs; in all of his endeavors, he enjoyed the love and |
|
companionship of his wife, Edwina, to whom he was married for 25 |
|
rewarding years; and |
|
WHEREAS, Devoted to his family and his faith, James Fanner |
|
lived a full and generous life, and the memory of his kindness, |
|
integrity, and ready humor will forever occupy a treasured place in |
|
the hearts of those who knew and loved him; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of James Charles |
|
Fanner, Sr., and extend sincere condolences to the members of his |
|
family: to his wife, Edwina Love Fanner; to his sons, James C. |
|
Fanner, Jr., and his wife, Sandra, and Paul Fanner; to his |
|
stepchildren, Paul Love, Jr., Robert Love and his wife, Sherry, |
|
Karen Love, and Teresa Love-Williams and her husband, James; to his |
|
grandchildren, Traniria Fanner-Gaskin, Lawanda, Jamen, William, |
|
and Vera Fanner, James Fanner III, Keyonna Johnson, and Bianca and |
|
Joseph Love; to his great-grandchildren, Larry Gaskin II, Lawrence |
|
and Ashley Gaskin, and Jocelyn Franklin; to his special friend, |
|
Dorothy Keys; to his goddaughter, Jacquenetta Armstead; and to his |
|
other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of James |
|
Fanner. |
