R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Misa Watanabe of Makuhari, Japan, is touring Austin
  on February 14, 2011, and her visit to the State Capitol helps to
  reinforce the long-standing bonds of friendship between the people
  of her nation and the State of Texas; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Kunio and Reiko Watanabe, Ms.
  Watanabe grew up in Chiba, Tokyo, and graduated from Inage High
  School in 2009; this former exchange student previously spent time
  in the state when she lived in Houston with the Joyner family;
  currently, she is studying international business at Rikkyo
  University in Ikebukuro; a talented pianist and an avid music fan,
  she also enjoys a number of hobbies, including table tennis,
  running, bike riding, and reading; and
         WHEREAS, Just as young Texans benefit by spending time
  abroad, students from other countries gain valuable insights into
  the history and culture of the Lone Star State by enjoying the
  famous hospitality of Texans; the bridges of understanding that are
  built when young men and women travel internationally play a vital
  role in helping the next generation of leaders develop and prosper
  in our increasingly global society; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Watanabe's visit to the State Capitol provides a
  fitting opportunity to welcome her back to the Lone Star State and
  to celebrate the intellectual curiosity and spirit of adventure
  shared by all world travelers; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize Misa Watanabe as an honorary Texan and
  extend to her sincere best wishes for a meaningful and memorable
  visit to Austin; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Watanabe as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
