R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Residents of Arlington lost a dedicated civic leader |
|
with the death of Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Richard H. Rencurrel on |
|
October 16, 2009, at the age of 79; and |
|
WHEREAS, Richard Rencurrel was born to Hamilton and Mildred |
|
Rencurrel on November 21, 1929, in Scituate, Massachusetts; he |
|
graduated from Boston University in 1952 and earned a master's |
|
degree in business administration from Syracuse University in 1966; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, After receiving his undergraduate degree, he joined |
|
the United States Air Force and became a decorated career officer; |
|
he served for two decades before retiring in 1973; Colonel |
|
Rencurrel held membership in the Military Order of the World Wars |
|
and served as president of the Retired Military Officers |
|
Association; and |
|
WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan gave generously of his time and |
|
talents to the city of Arlington, where he served as president of |
|
the Sundown Kiwanis Club and as a member of the Arlington Public |
|
Library Advisory Board and the Arlington Charities Board; in |
|
addition, he was a congregant of First United Methodist Church of |
|
Arlington and a volunteer with the American Red Cross at the Naval |
|
Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth; and |
|
WHEREAS, Richard Rencurrel exchanged wedding vows with |
|
Dorothy Thornton on September 15, 1956, and over the years, they |
|
shared in the joy of parenting three children and of later welcoming |
|
grandchildren and great-grandchildren into their family; and |
|
WHEREAS, Colonel Richard Rencurrel made the most of his |
|
nearly eight decades, achieving an exceptional career in the air |
|
force, contributing significantly to his community, and enjoying a |
|
life rich in family and friends; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Lieutenant Colonel |
|
(Ret.) Richard H. Rencurrel and extend sincere sympathy to the |
|
members of his family: to his wife, Dorothy Rencurrel; to his |
|
children and their spouses, Debbie and Mike Mead, Diana McPherson, |
|
and David and Joyce Rencurrel; to his grandchildren, Heather |
|
Garrett, Holly Mead, Kody Burkhardt, Jennifer Wood, Amy and Amanda |
|
McPherson, and Hamilton, Sarah, and Cameron Rencurrel; to his |
|
great-grandchildren, Bianca and Alexander Cross; to his brothers, |
|
Charles and Ronald Rencurrel; and to his other relatives and |
|
friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lieutenant |
|
Colonel (Ret.) Richard H. Rencurrel. |
